How Press Releases Can Boost Your SEO Strategy

by Mark Hess

LinksIn the world of search engine optimization (SEO), nothing rules supreme quite like the prospect of getting someone to link to your Web site. Once your site is properly optimized, you can attract niche traffic to your site and increase the amount of inbound links pointing in your direction. But how do you launch an SEO program that will actually produce results?

6 Ways to a Better Bottom Line. Your Rating?

by Mark Hess

Business Man MarketerDon’t get stuck in a rut.

OK, this is a check list that every small business should consider. You may already be doing all of these things, if so give yourself an A+ and the drinks are on you. If you do 4 out 5, you’re a B; 3 out of 5, a C, and less, well, let’s not go there. And if you do none of these and still run a successful biz, congrats, how do you do it?

1. Make a yearly marketing plan. Basically write down all of the things you are going to do to promote your business AND schedule them. Ad campaigns are more effective when they appear consistently; social media engagement suffers if you take weeks off from it; blogging twice or more a week reaps huge long term “Thought Leader” benefits. Don’t wait until a slow period to do promotion; keep it (more…)

Apple just became more valuable than Microsoft.

by Alec
Apple Surpasses Microsoft as Most Valuable Technology Company. Apple, the maker of iPods, iPhones and iPads, overtook Microsoft, the computer software giant, on Wednesday to become the world’s most valuable technology company. In intraday trading this afternoon, Apple shares rose 1.8 percent, which gave the company a value of $227.1billion, while Microsoft’s value is about $226.3 billion. This changing of the guard caps one of the most stunning turnarounds in business history, as Apple had been given up for dead only a decade earlier.

My “PC-Fanboy” opinion (warning exaggerated):
As our country moves closer and closer to a 2 class system of only the rich and the poor, it’s amazing that a company which serves only the rich (more…)

How Important Is SEO to You?

by Mark Hess
Young Man Coming Out of Old
Evolving by R. Hess

A lot of what passed for search engine optimization a couple of years ago was just scamming search engines into giving out high ranks. Now it’s much more about creating quality, provocative, engaging content. Yes, a lot of blogs are still over exposed ego trips, but there is also an incredible amount of deep, thoughtful commentary, useful advice, helpful tutorials and just good information out there. And I think Google is chiefly the reason why. By constantly evolving their search criteria and endlessly catching the scammers and tricksters, they have forced a raised bar mentality. Good content is being rewarded with high rankings. And we’re all a little better for it. I can’t believe I’m praising the behemoth Google has become, but so far they’ve been pretty good citizens. As far as I know… Anyway HubSpot has a nice little article about SEO I thought you might like. How important is SEO to you?

How to Use Twitter for Marketing & PR

Twitter is a tool for “micro-blogging” or posting very short updates, comments or thoughts.  In fact, since Twitter was designed to be very compatible with mobile phones through text messages, each update is limited to 140 characters.  Truly, a micro-blog.  Another way to think of Twitter is like a cross between instant (more…)
