Interesting stats from the report:

Is the New Google Smack Down a Good Thing?

by Mark Hess

Pepto Google MarketingEvery time, Google changes its algorithms – it causes a frenzy among those internet marketers relying heavily on the search engines.  The latest change made many marketers stock up on Maalox and Pepto Bismol as it made them literally sick to their stomachs. Google’s latest change was an attack on article directories and content farms like Ezinearticles.com.

You see, many internet marketers were writing 150-200 word articles that gave no informational value whatsoever, just to get the link. They were after the SEO benefit and not taking full advantage of what article marketing has to offer. But now, because of the new Google algorithm change sites like EzineArticles.com lost a lot of its visibility on Google and it has many internet marketers up in arms.

Now, unlike many internet marketers, I think the change is a GOOD thing — and here’s why…

Great Business Website Tips, Part 3

by Mark Hess

Biz tips #3Next up for discussion on what goes into making a great business website is content. You need to give the people what they want. Sure content is king, but what content and how much? Well here are some basics, in no particular order:

  1. 1. Usable, Engaging Content: Organize the information on your site with the most important items first, next important next and so on. Think carefully about what your clients might need on your website and make sure they can get it easily. In addition to all the obvious “physical” information about your business or service offer them advice and tips, links to other sources of related info, an FAQ’s page, photos and videos, and anything else that can be viewed as added value to your users. Become a source for them to turn to and hopefully they will sing your praise to others.
  2. Be Totally Honest: Don’t exaggerate and oversell yourself, be transparent and forthcoming. People today are too savvy to be fooled by wild claims and misleading hype. And don’t shade the truth either, if (more…)

Beauty Enhances Usability

Read a great article today that I have to share. It explores the value in having beautiful layouts and graphics in web design. This is obviously something we at Full Voice believe strongly in and I’m not just posting it in an effort to digitally turn my nose up, stick my tongue out and squeal “Told you So!”

.
No I actually find this article incredibly useful. It explores how attractive graphics with seeming little function actually play a large role in a user’s experience.

Design isn’t the best way to inform, or to argue a point, and it sometimes gets in the way of allowing you to fit additional functional elements onto your page. But without attractive design people won’t even want to be on your page in the first place.

.

Enjoy.
